Julian Dicks Interview
|
Anyone hear the West Ham Way Podcast interview with Julian Dicks? Some interesting bits in it. No surprise that some players were bought without managers consent.

Proper legend Dicksie. Some of the stuff said on here about him the last few years is fucking shocking.
Oh, and does that fella have to have the microphone so close to his mouth?!

Re: Julian Dicks Interview

he was my first real hero at West Ham
I used to spend hours in the garden practicing with my left foot because I was desperate to be a left back like him. Just smashing the ball against the garage wall. Used to drive my old dear mad!
All a bit sad really, but made me a better player at my level.

ha Davies.
You know what level I was at.
I taught you how to be a centre half. Its just a shame you liked a sausage sandwich too much otherwise my teaching could have paid more dividends

the only thing you taught me was that there could be a human with a face made entirely of dough.

Dicksy is a legend and already a cast iron bet to still be my favourite player of all time when I die.
Almost put himself in a wheelchair playing through injury for this club.
Best to ignore the wallies who can't help but criticise him, as they're know nothings.

Do we like him again? It greatly amused me reading on here week in week out that he was our ‘defensive coach’. Quite sad how people turned on him.

21 years ago today he scored THAT penalty against Tottenham. He'll always be my favourite player that I've seen play for us.
Great interview too.

loved him, and the best left back I've seen. could do anything these modern wingback could do when going forward but could also defend. second only to Bill in the tough man stakes

Terrific player but I was never convinced he added any value to Bilic's coaching set-up.

Can someone send this to Texas and get him to run it through his Hawkins 2000e in order to get a transcription made?
Thanks

I read that as well NS. As I started going to Upton Park in 1990, Julian is my favourite player, out of all those I've seen in the C&B live. His comments about Upton Park and the LS are spot. It would be absolute quality if he tuned up for the march next month.

Being served by the man himself in his pub near Colchester was a weird but cracking experience. Myself and a few of the boys had driven over after an away game (maybe Ipswich)
Chatted to all of us for ages, grateful we'd make the trip to see him. Probably my first West ham 'hero' What he has done coaching wise with us doesn't diminish that whatsoever *puts out cones*
